The lessons from Iraq or a couple of decades of Israeli-Palestinian fighting should teach the lessons needed to deal with this situation. It is still amazing to me how, even though bureaucratically slow this conflict has been, the amount of progress which has been brought in such a short time frame with minimal loss of life...even if caches of weapons have been lost to terrorists and other non-state actors.
