This is nice but what I'm concerned about is what kind of support is Israel giving to Cuba. Strategically, what does this mean? Is this a true source of diplomacy?
It would not surprise me if Israel is using Cuba and Jeffrey Goldberg as an active measure. Not that I am disagreeing with it but what is the end game...better Israeli exposure in an ever increasing hostile world?
According to Goldberg himself, Israel looks at global politics as a 0-sum game or realpolitik view (which again, based on its past with its neighbors is warranted). If that is so, how will this help? Does Castro really have that much influence in the third world, then in turn to other terrorists/supporters?
I will be following this closely; also how this possible Israeli/Cuba sentiment will affect US foreign policy. President Obama did say he wants better relations with Cuba, even if that means a little bit of trade and an easier ability for families to see one another, it is very possible this can go further.
This all could just be Castro's one last hooray as his mortality may have just been realized (not unlike Kim Jong across the pond).
