RT News

I was folding laundry and flipping through television channels when I got to RT network.  I was intrigued at the commentary I was hearing as it was obviously foreign, but I couldn't pin it down.  The program I was watching was The Alyona Show, which shows a beautiful news anchor speaking on headlines, not unlike this blog...

I realized that the spin on the show is clearly anti-American but very subtle.  This program in particular, and the others I watched, did not just come out and blast the US but would use a more subtle approach with words.  Imperialist, occupiers, greed, and a few other key words you would expect, from what I then figured was a Russian television program, came to light.  It makes me wonder though, how many people does these programs actually reach?  How many do they actually influence?  Is it just a good bet to do because all it takes is one person to royally screw over everything?  If they can reach the heart of one person is it worth the millions to run this programming?  The answer is obviously yes.

Those US citizens that end up on the show tend to come from the military, or those who comment on it, and have an "anti-war" stance.  Those who have been treated "unfairly" or have done something that is not even pro-Kremlin, but anti-American are capitalized on.  I'll be honest, watching the programming is a little scary because you can easily buy the stories they are showing.  At the same time, I pick up on these choice words and guests they have on, but others probably do not.

Relative to the other Foreign operated English speaking news, coming from the French, it is very biased.  The French broadcast is just fact and you get to make up your own judgement.  A different approach and when you watch both news channels, one after the other, on the same news story, you can easily see how RT is trying to push a pro-Kremlin message.  Funny to me, not for the people they actually grasp.

Either way, I want to create some kind of drinking game where every time the words occupy, protest, or negative view on the US comes up, someone has to take a shot.  This game of course, would last no longer than 10 minutes as all those involved, even Russian, would be on the floor turning yellow.
