The politicians keep citing Taiwan as the major concern. To me, it would be to Japan's existence, South Korea's, and the major trade route these seas create. On top of that, the Chinese do not think like US. They are definitely 0-sum in their thought, appeasing Western powers, all the while supporting regimes we hate (Iran for example, Pakistan as another), and biding their time to "Rise Again"...not too difficult to see yet it never gets published.
